Description Benefits Supplemental Questions
Under immediate supervision, learns to perform and performs routine, basic engineering support and construction work as a field crew member using standard field construction techniques and procedures, record keeping methods, and equipment assisting in surveying, basic materials sampling and testing, and/or routine inspections activities.
Examples of Work:
Operate transit, level and other surveying instruments as a survey crew member. Inspects and accepts or rejects materials and work on assigned phase of construction projects such as culverts, bridges, earthwork, asphalt, concrete paving, guardrail, lighting, seeding, etc. Performs necessary tests on concrete consistent of slump, air content and cylinders for strength testing. Shuts down project for safety violations, monitors and reports other violations to the next higher level authority. Prepares, maintains, and submits inspection reports and records on inspection assignments. Accepts or rejects materials and contractor''s work. Read construction plans to understand dimensions and information shown. Applies the information to the inspection project. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with contractors and the public. Drive commercial and non-commercial vehicles. Operates snow removal equipment to assist State Maintenance.
Qualifications / Requirements:
REQUIREMENTS: Must be at least 18 years of age and have a valid driver''s license.
PREFERRED: Experience in surveying, road construction, materials testing, record keeping, trigonometry, and geometry. Possession of a valid Class A or B Commercial Drivers License (CDL). Experience in the operation of heavy equipment or snow removal equipment. Computer experience including word processing, spreadsheets, Sitemanager, Geopak and Microstation software.
OTHER: Must possess a valid Class B Commercial Drivers License (CDL) or be able to obtain one within 60 days. Must be able to lift up to 100 pounds, climb, bend, stoop, walk long distances and work long hours in outdoor temperature extremes. Must be able to report to work outside scheduled work hours for snow and other highway emergencies within 30 minutes, under normal driving conditions, after called. Regular and reliable attendance.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Knowledge of methods and techniques of surveying, materials testing procedures and procedures and techniques, and/or construction inspection procedures.Estimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.

The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
